Partnerships & Collaborations
Working Together to Advance Photonic Innovation
Innovation Thrives in Collaboration
At Bay Photonics, we believe innovation thrives in collaboration.
By working closely with SMEs, leading industries, universities, and research partners across the UK and beyond, we help move breakthrough technologies from concept to commercial reality.
Together through our photonics network, we develop advanced assembly and packaging solutions that enable scalable, reliable, and high-volume photonic production.
Bay Photonics - Our Approach
Let’s Have a Chat
Discuss your goals with us so we can explore how our services align.
Conversations help identify shared interests, challenges, and opportunities, the foundation of every successful partnership.
Partner with Us
We’ll outline clear roles, outcomes, and deliverables – whether it’s research, joint development, prototyping, or packaging support.
A strong partnership ensures focus, accountability, and measurable progress.
Innovation at the Heart
By combining our experience and equipment, we co-create robust photonic manufacturing solutions that move technology forward.
Through joint innovation, we strengthen the UK’s photonics network, advancing next-generation technologies together.
Innovate UK – Part of UK Research and Innovation, it is the UK’s innovation agency.
Their mission is to help companies to grow through development and commercialisation of new products, processes and services which is supported by an innovation ecosystem that is inclusive. We have been a part of many Innovate UK grant projects which you can find listed below:

EPIC – European Photonics Industry Consortium
EPIC is the world leading industry association that promotes the sustainable development of organisations working in the field of photonics in Europe. Bay Photonics are proud members of the group to support our growth and technological advancements and to network within the cluster.
Torbay Hi-Tech Cluster
Torbay and South Devon has a rich heritage in the microelectronics sector. The region has seen continued growth and development which makes it a lucrative hub for technology businesses. Bay Photonics are members of this group.
Luceda Photonics
Luceda is a leading provider of photonic integrated circuit (PIC) design software and services. Our research and development team has a great line of communication with Luceda. (NEED TO CONFIRM COLLAB WITH LUCEDA)
Cornerstone
Cornerstone (at the University of Southampton) operated as a silicon photonics foundry platform. They fabricate PICs and supply them for UK research programmes. We collaborate by receiving the devices to assemble, package and test. (NEED TO CONFIRM COLLAB WITH CORNERSTONE)
South Devon College / University
South Devon College is a further education college within Torbay and the surrounding area. The college is part of The University of Plymouth Colleges network. We have partnered with the college on many occasions from supporting apprentices to collaborating on a government funding project PICPAC to create short photonic courses and a full-time degree photonic course.
iMaps
IMAPS is a global community of microelectronic related engineers, scientists, manufacturers, end-users and supply chain companies. As members, we benefit from access to business networking, technical events and workshops, in addition to research papers, newsletters and other publications.
