Located within EPIC – the Electronics and Photonics Innovation Centre in Paignton, we’re part of a region with deep roots in optical communications and advanced component manufacturing.
Our purpose-built facility includes a Class 10,000 / 1,000 cleanroom (ISO Class 7 / 6), along with state-of-the-art welding, sealing, wire bonding, and pick-and-place equipment.
We combine decades of experience with a commitment to innovation, helping our partners bring next-generation photonic technologies to market with precision and confidence.

Andrew has deep industry knowledge in photonics, semiconductors, and optics paired with strong commercial execution to bridge research and development with real-world profitability.

HR & Admin Manager
Currently studying for her CIPD Level 7 in Strategic People Management, building on her Level 5 qualification. Amy is also a strong advocate for mental health in the workplace.

Adrian is an extremely focused, meticulous and passionate engineering physicist with an eye to detail and a proven track-record of delivering projects on time.

Nikola is a photonics expert with extensive knowledge of free space, fiber and integrated optics. He has Extensive experience in technology and product development, from concept to volume production.
Richard Poustie
Operations Manager
Richard oversees day-to-day operations, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and to the highest standards. His practical experience, combined with his collaborative leadership style, makes him a key part of the team.
Sarah Lewsey
Business Systems & IT Lead
Sarah is responsible for developing and managing our database, supporting data and analysis, and providing IT support across the business. Sarah also helps streamline our systems and processes.
Shaun Edworthy
Senior NPI Engineer
Shaun has over 20 years’ experience in high-tech manufacturing, specialising in Die Bond and Wire Bond processes. He leads process development, automation integration, and project delivery across telecom, quantum, and industrial sectors.
Sinead Isaac
Financial Controller
Sinead is our MAAT qualified Financial Controller with over 11 years of finance experience. She plays a key role in keeping our operations running smoothly, ensuring everything adds up behind the scenes while supporting the wider team’s goals.

Bay Photonics Apprentices
One of the things we love here at Bay Photonics is creating opportunities for people to start a career in photonics. We have partnered up with a local college to support four Engineer Technician apprenticeships.
Our apprentices — Abraham Skeet, Gabriel Darvid, Jack Faulkner, and Tristan Mezzone — spend four days a week with us gaining hands-on industry experience, and one day a week at college building the knowledge they need to succeed. Through this balance of practical learning and academic study, they’re developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours that will shape their future careers in photonics.
